Kitchen Redesign

The Space:
The kitchen comprised of a partially subdivided kitchen area and a passageway.

The Brief:
To open up the existing kitchen space, create a kitchen/ dining area and a new ground floor WC.

Our Solution:
To open up the total space, removing the passageway wall and the wall subdividing the kitchen. Load bearing steel beams were then inserted to support the remaining walls. A new wc was created from a ground floor storage area, which is now accessed via the kitchen.

Warm whites and cool greens were used to give a serene backdrop and dark metallic tile splashbacks and a slate floor were then included to add definition.

The perfect finishing touch was the chic Italian dining furniture. The result was a practical yet sophisticated eating, dining and entertaining space, which has also added value to the client’s property.

Hallway Renovation, Edwardian House, North London

The Space:
Hall and landing.

The Brief:
Brighten up the hallway and add both visual and physical warmth without disturbing the floor.

The hall of this elegant Edwardian house has a beautiful but very fragile original floor and an 'arts and crafts' style staircase.

However, the staircase and all of the wood work on the walls had had a heavy brown stain applied to them making the hall feel rather dark

Our Solution:
We created a neutral green for the walls which tones with the floor, and also painted the wood work a warm white to make the space look lighter yet warmer. The oak staircase itself was stripped and then restored to reveal its original colour and grain.

We replaced the existing radiator with an stylish old school type one, which had a lower visual impact but much higher heat output. The final touch was to put in a beautiful reproduction fireplace, so appropriate to the architecture that most visitors think that it is original to the house.

Master Bedroom and en-suite refurbishment

The Space:
The master bedroom of an Edwardian house in North London.

The Brief:
The client asked us to create a new en-suite facility in this large south facing bedroom.
In addition, we were charged with designing all of the bespoke storage and creating a whole new look and feel for the room, which was to be completely refurbished and redecorated.

Our Solution:
We designed an ‘L’ shaped en-suite shower-room which wrapped around one corner of the room. It contained the shower, basin and w.c.

As the client asked us to fit in as much integral storage as possible, we kept the design simple by making the doors plain but added a touch of  glamour by using chunky crystal handles.

We were also asked to find suitable wallpaper. The walls of the en-suite and the bespoke joinery created quite a few different plains. So we selected an Osborne and Little fabric, which also had matching wallpaper. This meant that by using the same pattern for the wallpaper and fabric for the curtains, the unified pattern across one wall created interest, without being too busy.

The colours from the fabric and wallpaper were used on the wardrobe doors, walls and for the carpet. The silver colour of the chrome on the crystal handles completed the unified colour scheme for the room.

The overall result is a stunning, yet very practical room, which because of the creation of an extra bathroom has almost certainly added value to the house.
